Privacy notice

Last updated 20 October 2026

Throttle is a marketplace for buying and selling cars, motorcycles and trucks in the Philippines. This notice explains how we handle your personal data under Republic Act No. 10173, the Data Privacy Act of 2012, and the rules of the National Privacy Commission (NPC).

What we collect

  • Your mobile number (stored in international format, for example +63 917 123 4567) and, if you add one, your email address.
  • Your name or display name, and the role you use Throttle for: buyer, private seller or dealer.
  • Listings you create, including photos, vehicle details, price and location to the city or municipality.
  • Messages you exchange with other members through Throttle.
  • Documents you choose to submit for verification, such as an OR/CR or a dealer's DTI or SEC registration.
  • Technical data such as device type, pages viewed and approximate location derived from your IP address.

Why we use it

  • To create and secure your account, including sending one-time sign-in codes by SMS.
  • To publish your listings and connect buyers and sellers without showing your number or email by default.
  • To moderate listings and messages and to detect scams, spam and misuse.
  • To send alerts and notices you have asked for, such as saved-search matches.
  • To meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

Who can see it

Other members see your listings and display name. Your mobile number and email stay hidden unless you choose to share them, for example by letting a buyer reveal your number. Identity and vehicle documents are seen only by Throttle moderators. We use service providers for hosting, SMS and email delivery under agreements that require them to protect your data. We do not sell personal data.

How long we keep it

We keep account data while your account is active. Verification documents are deleted 30 days after a decision. Listings and messages are kept while your account is open and removed when you ask us to delete your account, except where the law requires us to keep a record.

Your rights

You have the right to be informed, to access, to correct, to erase or block, to object, to data portability and to damages. You can lodge a complaint with the National Privacy Commission. To exercise a right, use the data request form in your account settings or email our Data Protection Officer at privacy@throttle.ph.
